The Art of Contribution is about deeply sensing how we might best put ourselves in service to life and honouring that.

It consists of six key invitations to guide us on our journey. The key word is “guide”. Each person is unique so change it in any way that serves you.

The Art of Contribution: Six Invitations

1) Slow down and bring your dreams to life. What might be possible?

  • What are you noticing right now – in this moment – about what really matters?
  • Who do you see yourself becoming?
  • Let’s play: Imagine you can magically make the vision a reality right now, what does it look like? What feelings and emotions are you experiencing?
  • How does this vision play out in 5, 10, 25 years?
  • Stepping further back, how might your vision contribute not only to your work and business, family and friends but also to your community and the planet that hosts us?

2) Craft a Living Vision that grows with you, always open to change and embracing new opportunities (Vision & Plans).

  • Having a flexible and adaptable vision is essential to continuously challenging yourself as your world grows bigger and staying mindful of the fact that we are always nested within something larger than ourselves.
  • This ongoing iterative process also enables you to develop strategies and plans to bring parts of your vision to life in the present (seeding intentions).
  • It also means you can approach each week and each day with a clear idea of what your next steps are.

3) Act with Intent by establishing daily practices that deliver (Moment by Moment Decision-Making, Energy & Focus).

  • Always remember: Today is the only day you ever truly live! You can’t change yesterday, and you can’t do something tomorrow today. In truth, you can only act now. Today is the day ‘insights get turned into action’.
  • Focusing that action on what truly matters helps you stay aligned with your vision – and with natural cycles around you – even amidst distractions and competing demands.
  • Prioritising conserves energy and attention, whilst also enhancing decision-making.
  • By intentionally designing your days, you maximise purpose and fulfilment, transforming the journey itself into a series of meaningful daily destinations.

4) Remain Curious and learn to ask bigger questions and experiment with new ideas and new ways of being (Curiosity, Habits, Mindset, Skillset).

  • Curiosity is in truth what defines life.
  • Without questions, who are we?
  • This is where ongoing coaching support can be truly transformational in uncovering hidden horizons and new ways of engaging with the world.
  • It is about being curious around ingrained habits and thinking patterns, societal assumptions and dominant stories around what might be possible but also about where you might need to upskill if you are to fully live into your vision.

5) Build Communities around you that share your values and help keep you energised and motivated (Support Network).

  • I know from personal experience that such external support can be critical in truly embedding the learning and continually nudging us to stay on the path we have dreamt.
  • I have a Coaching Community with whom I meet every second Monday and their support and energy have been a critical part of my world over the past number of years.
  • The truth is that we only truly know who we are in the company of others. Communities thus serve as a mirror and as a lens into who we might become.
  • Communities extend beyond the human – what does the natural world around you ask of you? And what might it offer?

6) Decide with Courage (Decision-Making).

  • This is about developing the ability to make clear, confident decisions that are aligned with your values and vision.
  • It is about not being afraid to act on what you sense is right.
  • We make decisions all day every day.
  • Some echo for minutes, others for months whilst a few echo throughout our lives.
  • How do we distinguish and decide accordingly?
