#326 What Do I Need to Thrive Today?
#326 What Do I Need to Thrive Today?

To thrive is to prosper, to grow, to mature.

It is thus state of being where an individual or a community is not just surviving but excelling in all aspects of life.

This implies resilience in the face of challenges and adversity.

This is very much grounded in what is rather than what was or what might be.

This is about actively engaging with the life we are living and drawing joy, wonder, awe and inspiration from the possibilities we encounter.

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with passion, compassion, humour, and style.” – Maya Angelou

Embers: One Ojibway’s Meditations by Richard Wagamese (link to Amazon.co.uk). This book changed my mind about many things, including what a book can be. Whilst being in essence a meditation on life, the book is in truth a call to action. A call to love life and to express that love in everything we do.

Nurturing Curiosity – Daily Practice: This is part of the Nurturing Curiosity series of tools, insights and questions designed to help nurture curiosity as part of our daily practice. In point of fact, every interaction we have is an opportunity to question what we are observing and how we and others are seeing the world. Also remember that questions come in many forms throughout our day.

Indeed, over the past 10 days I have been increasingly aware of questions from my body. An awareness of some tension in my shoulders or neck raises questions as to posture or indeed something deeper – how might I be resisting some aspect of my experience?

About Tom O’Leary

I coach, mentor and teach leaders committed to a higher purpose who sense they can do better.

Together, we unlock deep insights that spur how they think, act and lead.

These are leaders who want to make a difference.

And yet, to make a difference we need to be different. This starts with how we think, what we question and how we decide!

This means spending time being curious about everything from where we place our attention to the choices we make and contemplating what might be possible so that when we take action, we can bring all our energy and power to bear.
