In times such as these there can be a tendency to focus on the negative. And yet most of us are lucky enough to have bright spots during our day. Rather than rush on to the next task or call why not take a moment or two to mark them? Even better, why not quickly make a note and add it to a gratitude journal later in the day. For me, it is also a great way of focusing on what I have rather than any future goals I may be working on, so it ties in nicely with mindful practice. What’s more, there is growing scientific evidence on the power of gratitude. This great Berkeley study is a good starting point:
