“Anything less than a conscious commitment to the important is an unconscious commitment to the unimportant.” – Stephen Covey

Q: With whom might I have this conversation?

What Do I Most Need to Talk About?

Tom’s Reflection on This Question

I have come back to this programme years after initially developing it, so I am reading all these questions pretty much like you – as a first-time reader. This question in particular has stopped me in my tracks.

As I write this, I am between coaches so there are probably a series of things I “most” need to talk about and yet there can inevitably only be one as indicated by Stephen Covey’s quote. Indeed, I am reminded of the fact that the word “priority” was singular until the 19th century or so.

A key part of this question is thus nudging us to really hone in on what is truly most important to us right now. In essence, what one conversation might have the most impact.

Programme Overview

I have the privilege of being part of an amazing peer-support group that meets every two weeks with one purpose: “to support our development as coaches!”

And yet, as we grow as coaches, we are also called on to do an incredible amount of inner work. Our mission has thus evolved to be: “to support each other as humans and as friends!”

The accompanying content was developed to support this process and has served as inspiration. The hope is that this content may inspire other coaches to set up their own peer-support groups or that it may serve in some other fashion. It is not intended to be the last word on anything!
